Green building is a message endorsed by local Authorities, UK Government and a growing number of professionals. In the building industry energy costs are rising and will continue to rise for the foreseeable future, fossil fuel is now a limited resource.

More often than not the domestic building market is overlooked. The big name builders and commercial contractors are leaders in the field, however the small domestic builder will often just about satisfy the minimum requirement of the building regulations and no more!

Here at ‘BuildMarque GreenBuild’ we specialise in producing a low energy house extension and we believe we provide a service that maybe is a first to the UK!

For the typical house extension

This is what we will do which exceeds the minimum requirements of the building regulations:



Floor Insulation

At no extra cost we will exceed the typical floor insulation requirement by 25%
Wall Insulation

At no extra cost we will exceed the typical wall insulation requirement by a minimum of 10%
Window / Door

At no extra cost we will exceed the typical window / door insulation requirement by a minimum of 10%
Ceiling / Roof

At no extra cost we will exceed the typical ceiling insulation requirement by a minimum of 10%
General

At no extra cost we will apply robust construction methods to the building works
Summary

For a typical single extension the application of these additional works will result in a significant improvement on energy saving beyond that required by the current regulations. These will cost you nothing extra and save energy costs so this is good news for you and the environment. (Terms and conditions apply).

Low carbon concrete. Where possible we use concrete that achieves 50% of the carbon footprint of standard concrete
We only use certified wood plus friendly paints, finishes and preservatives

All the earlier measures will provide a more energy efficient, eco friendly house extension but it does not stop there. We will also talk to you regarding work to the existing house and although we would propose to make an additional charge for these works, we are certain the additional cost is a worthwhile and ultimately money saving expense. Upgrading loft insulation to the existing house, pipe lagging in loft and insulating and sealing loft hatch
Upgrading wall insulation to the existing house
Low carbon mechanical extract for bathrooms, utility rooms, kitchens and toilets

Upgrading jacket insulation to hot water cylinder and water tanks in loft
Boiler replacement and/or servicing and adding thermostatic radiator valves to existing radiators including power flushing existing system
